Despite a growing protest from Muslim group and politicians, the American adult magazine playboy will be released in an Indonesian version in March 2006.
Some protesters say that the launch will only exploit women’s bodies, doesn’t suit the Indonesian culture, and bring no respect to the world’s most religious country. These magazines my corrupt the minds of the young generation and sure have a strong influence to our youth morals.
What do you think? Do you think that our nation has become a nation that full of hypocrites? I DO. I believe that the publisher has a right to produce and distribute Indonesian Playboy. People can verbally reject it, but they will silently buy it anyway!
How about all those illegal pornography DVDs and tabloids that can be found throughout the country? How about those illegal clubs that are open for men seeking female entertainments.
Let us realise that we are now living in a world that full of democracy and freedom. Freedom means choices, you are free to choose what’s right and wrong for yourself. Yes, the playboy magazine will create concern throughout the nations, but the choice is yours. If you don’t like it, simply don’t buy it.
If Playboy is being banned in Indonesia, the logic will be the other male magazines like FHM, Popular and Matra and other domestic male magazines, should also be banned, dont you think?
